NACEP 2012 National Conference

Framed by the need to increase the number of college graduates and produce a more highly skilled workforce, this conference will showcase the critical role that concurrent enrollment programs play in launching students into post-secondary education and in-demand careers. Current needs in education include re-designing the senior year of high school as the “launch year” as well as enabling students to complete college degree programs on-time or early by earning credits in high school. Concurrent enrollment – also known as “dual credit,” “dual enrollment,” and “college in the high school” - address both of these needs, and in doing so, prepare students for successful futures.

About the conference

The annual National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) national conference seeks to develop strong concurrent enrollment programs throughout the nation by sharing research, discussing ideas for the future, staying up-to-date on national trends and legislation, and networking with secondary and postsecondary professionals in the field.  Concurrent enrollment partnerships offer college classes to high school students, taught by high school teachers for both high school and transcripted college credit, at the high school, during the regular school day. NACEP is the only national standards-based accreditation body for concurrent enrollment programs.

Audience

NACEP’s 2011 National Conference in Mystic, Connecticut attracted 350 participants from 41 states and the District of Columbia.  Conference attendees came from:

  • Colleges and Universities    82%
  • High Schools and School Districts    8%
  • State Agencies, Policy and Research    10%

The majority of attendees include a range of college administrators and faculty with responsibilities related to concurrent enrollment: concurrent enrollment program directors, faculty from departments offering courses, and officials in academic affairs, enrollment management, and institutional research.
