Press Release: 13 Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships Earn NACEP Accreditation in 2011

The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) announces that the nine programs earned initial NACEP accreditation and four programs previously accredited by NACEP earned continued accreditation in 2011.

An article on reducing college costs by HuffPost contributing writer Tom Vander Ark, former Executive Director for Education at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, described how earning college credit in high school can reduce the cost of college. Vander Ark referenced NACEP’s role in promoting the concept of offering college courses in high school.

The Tribune did an extensive feature on the growth of dual credit in Illinois, highlighting concurrent enrollment courses offered by NACEP-member Joliet Junior College and others in regional high schools. It referenced the 2009 Illinois Dual Credit Quality Act and a “national push to establish standards for dual-credit programs.”
Arkansas State University gets National recognition

A local television station covered NACEP’s recent accreditation of Arkansas Sate University’s Center for Regional Programs. In an interview with Dr. Michael Bowman, the story described ASU’s dedication to ensuring that high school students experience high academic standards in concurrent enrollment courses. He also described the commitment and consistent interaction between high school teachers and faculty at ASU.
GPC to offer engineering class at RCA
7/03/2010 – Rockdale Citizen
Newspaper coverage of NACEP-member Georgia Perimeter College’s plans to start offering an Introduction to Engineering class to high school students at the Rockdale Career Academy, thus further expanding access for students who are unable to travel to the college campus. The course is part of the college’s Regents Engineering Transfer Program, and thus is fully transferable for students who want to begin at GPC and complete their Bachelor’s degree program at Georgia Tech.
Center for Regional Programs receives National Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships accreditation

Riverland enrollment partnerships accredited

An article about how the concurrent enrollment program at Riverland Community College, part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, recently gained NACEP accreditation. According to Riverland’s concurrent enrollment coordinator, the success of the accreditation process is due to the support of high school faculty and their college faculty mentors as they make collaborative administrative efforts every year to organize course offerings beneficial to high school students.

NACEP’s standards and increasing numbers of accredited institutions mentioned in an article describing the growth in dual enrollment programs in the metropolitan New York region. NACEP members UConn Early College Experience and Bergen Community College were highlighted as examples of rapidly growing established programs and newly established programs respectively.
