NACEP Accredits Six Additional Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships

The NACEP Board of Directors granted accreditation to six concurrent enrollment programs at its April 2010 meeting. NACEP is pleased to announce that the following institutions have demonstrated their commitment to offering high quality concurrent enrollment programming:
Arkansas State University – Jonesboro (AR)
Broome Community College (NY)
Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas (AR)
National Park Community College (AR)
Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas (AR)
Riverland Community College (MN)

“ASU faculty and staff, along with concurrent faculty and staff members at ASU’s partner schools, have put forth great effort to ensure the program’s academic rigor and strength” said Amy Moody-Qualls, the Coordinator of Off-Campus Credit Courses for the flagship campus of Arkansas State University (ASU). She also remarked that the teamwork between ASU faculty and partner school teachers benefits concurrent students “whose education is the real reason we strive for excellence.”

NACEP accreditation distinguishes a select group of 53 high quality concurrent enrollment programs nationwide. NACEP’s standards represent nationally-acknowledged best practices ensuring that the college courses offered in the high school are the same as the courses offered on the sponsoring college campus. The intensive accreditation process includes a comprehensive, programmatic self-study; documentation of adherence to the standards; and a peer review by experienced, accredited members of NACEP.

With the addition of these six programs, NACEP-accredited programs include 28 two-year public colleges, 20 four-year public universities, and 5 four year private universities. Institutions with accredited programs are located in 15 states, including 14 each in Arkansas and New York, 5 in Minnesota, 4 in Indiana, and 3 in Utah.
