Guiding students to pursue their passions is a strong motivator to help them stay in school. Youth is faced with many challenges that impact their social/emotional health. By attending to students’ dimensions of motivation (competence, control/autonomy, interest/value, and relatedness) school personnel have the potential to keep students engaged in school as they connect to their dreams. A college and career program that is attentive to students’ social/emotional development is a medium by which students can be inspired to pursue their dreams.
