NACEP Volunteer Leadership Opportunities
The National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP) was founded on volunteerism. Established in 1999, the first decade of our work as an organization was led by volunteers until NACEP hired its first part-time staff member in 2009. Volunteer leadership positions and the process by with they are filled, are outlined in NACEP’s organizational by-laws. Our volunteers and their work to advance the field are at the core of our past, present, and future work. We hope you will join us in working towards our vision for a future where all secondary students will have equitable access to quality college courses to support their postsecondary goals!
NACEP has a 16-member Board with positions opening on roughly an annual basis. Board members are publicly disclosed through our website and our annual reporting to the IRS. The Executive Director is an ex officio, non-voting member that is hired by the Board.
Board Terms:
Board terms range from one to three years. Positions are filled by both appointment and election. Eligibility requirements vary by position. The position of Board President is filled by the President-Elect after that member has served a two-year term as President-Elect. With the exception of the Accreditation Commission Chair, Board terms start and end at the conclusion of NACEP’s fall annual business meeting. The position of Accreditation Commission Chair has a special term that starts and ends with the spring meeting of the Accreditation Commission.
Election and Appointment Processes and Timeframes:
Each election is preceded by a call for nominations, typically in the spring, and elections are typically held in the summer. Elections and openings for appointed positions are announced through email and posed on our website. Appointed positions on the Board are filled by a variety of approaches: by a call for nominations, by candidates stating an interest in an open position to a Board, Commission, or staff member, or by tapping past and current volunteer leaders from Commissions, the Leadership Academy, or the NACEP membership. Terms vacated by the premature departure of any member are filled by appointment.
Calendar of Board Positions:
NACEP’s by-laws stipulate that a calendar of upcoming positions is published. The chart below summarizes positions and projected terms for 2022-2024.
